Coens to shoot movie in Minn.

The Coen brothers’ next film is set in Minnesota, and now they’ve committed to shooting it in Minnesota as well. Shooting on “A Serious Man” is scheduled to begin September 8. It’s about a Jewish family living in suburban St. Louis Park, where directors Joel and Ethan Coen grew up. It will be filmed at several locations in the Twin Cities area.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Coen brothers’ next film is set in Minnesota, and now they’ve committed to shooting it in Minnesota as well.

Shooting on “A Serious Man” is scheduled to begin September 8. It’s about a Jewish family living in suburban St. Louis Park, where directors Joel and Ethan Coen grew up. It will be filmed at several locations in the Twin Cities area.

The production company had explored shooting in the Milwaukee suburbs because of Wisconsin’s film subsidies, but the Minnesota Legislature came up with $500,000 to induce the producers to film in Minnesota instead.
