Blue Jays’ Jystad signs with Jamestown College

Leah Jystad of Jamestown High School is continuing her volleyball career close to home. The Blue Jay standout signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to play for Jamestown College beginning this fall. Jystad was a captain and played middle/right hitter for the Blue Jays. She helped the team to a 12-15 record last winter. She was also a captain on the Blue Jays’ basketball team, a member of the student council and the National Honor Society.

The Blue Jay standout signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to play for Jamestown College beginning this fall.

Jystad was a captain and played middle/right hitter for the Blue Jays. She helped the team to a 12-15 record last winter. She was also a captain on the Blue Jays’ basketball team, a member of the student council and the National Honor Society.

“Leah is the kind of student-athlete we all hope to attract. She’s a competitor who is not afraid to work hard,” Jimmie volleyball coach Chris Mahoney said. “She has great athleticism and passion for the game. Leah is also a terrific student and an ambassador for our program and school.”

The daughter of Phil and Shelly Jystad, she is undecided on a major.

The Jimmies went 21-9 and finished as runners-up last season in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
