Holiday tickets down in N.D.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol issued fewer citations over the Memorial Day weekend than it did last year. Troopers handed out 1,138 tickets, 49 fewer than last year. There were 640 speeding citations and 25 drunken driving arrests.

BISMARCK (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol issued fewer citations over the Memorial Day weekend than it did last year.

Troopers handed out 1,138 tickets, 49 fewer than last year.

There were 640 speeding citations and 25 drunken driving arrests.

Patrol Captain Kevin Robson says he can’t say for sure whether the drop in tickets was due to less traffic because of high fuel prices. But he says the patrol had the same amount of manpower on the highways as it did last year.
