The Jamestown Sun endorses Dwaine Heinrich, Patrick Nygaard and Ken Schulz to serve a four-year term on the Jamestown City Council.
* Dwaine Heinrich has years of experience both as a city councilman and as a Jamestown business owner. He understands how important an asset the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. is to this city and that attracting more residents is vital to this area’s future.
* Patrick Nygaard’s background in banking will serve him well on the council. We like his suggestion that more work can be done with Jamestown College to attract and retain graduates and young families. Nygaard has also said that he will work to improve Jamestown’s image and focus on positive working relationships.
* Ken Schulz also has years of experience as a city councilman and from being the chief operating officer of the North Dakota State Hospital. He is very involved in this community through volunteer work and understands how important this city’s downtown is to its future.
Candidates Matthew Brugger, Charlie Kourajian, Tina Martin and Gloria Wentz are also viable and worthy choices, but we believe Heinrich, Nygaard and Schulz will best serve the residents of Jamestown.
