Continue to publish minutes of boards

Keeping information open regarding the actions governing bodies is as important to democracy as the governing bodies themselves. Currently, the City Council and Jamestown Public School Board publish the minutes of their meetings in The Jamestown Sun, the official newspaper of each body. The minutes give residents the opportunity to know and understand the actions of the boards and how those actions affect the community.

On the June 10 ballot, residents will decide whether to continue this practice.

Publishing the minutes helps all residents stay informed. As taxpayers, we have a right to know what our boards do and how its members decide policies affecting us all.

Requiring information to be published protects democracy and the public’s best interest.

We encourage you to vote yes to publish proceedings Tuesday.
