NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — The Four Bears Bridge is getting it first inspection since it was built west of New Town.
State bridge inspectors are checking for cracks or imperfections in the bridge, which was opened for traffic in September 2005.
Assistant District Transportation Department Engineer Joel Wilt was at the site when the inspection started Monday on the inside and the deck. He said the bridge still looks like new, with no problems found.
Wilt said inspectors will return in the fall to look at each segment on the bottom and the north side of the bridge, which has a new sidewalk.
The nearly mile-long Four Bears Bridge across Lake Sakakawea was built at a cost of about $55 million.
