Liechtys’ generosity will do much for college
Clarice and Reuben Liechty’s donation of $1 million to Jamestown College for the renovation of Jamestown College’s Taber Hall was an act of generosity that will further enhance the college and the students it serves.
Clarice and Reuben Liechty’s donation of $1 million to Jamestown College for the renovation of Jamestown College’s Taber Hall was an act of generosity that will further enhance the college and the students it serves.
As Bob Badal, president of the college, said the Liechtys “saved the day for Jamestown College” with their donation, which means one of the college’s oldest and most important buildings will get a much-needed facelift. The building’s stairways creak, the brickwork needs repair and the interior isn’t as impressive as it was once, and the gift will be of great use in fixing these problems.
The Taber Hall project is one in a line of projects funded by alumni who have made a difference to the campus, the college’s students and the community. The Reiland Fine Arts Center and Unruh and Sheldon Center for Business and Computer Science are two that obviously come to mind but other projects such as Taber Hall also create significant opportunities for students and for the college.
These projects, along with the promise of the Jamestown Journey to Success, paint a bright future for Jamestown’s esteemed liberal-arts college.
