Jamestown airport sees boardings increase after change in flight schedule

Jamestown Regional Airport Authority Manager Andrew Schneider said Wednesday that boardings were increasing at the airport since the change in flight schedule instituted by Northwest Airlines on May 2. “Mesaba boardings were at 239 for May,” Schneider said during his manager’s report during the board’s regular June meeting. “That is up from 198 last year and makes May the best month so far this year.”

Northwest Airlines, parent company of Messaba, changed the schedule to make the morning flight to Minneapolis and the evening flight from Minneapolis non-stop. Afternoon flights are still routed through Aberdeen.

In other business, Johnny Klingenberg reported that the air show is in “great shape.”

“The amount we’ve raised is pushing $80,000,” he said. “All we need now is good weather and 10,000 people.”

The board also heard the Taxiway A extension project is still pending on wetlands mitigation. The project has been held up since the summer of 2007 while the airport arranges an exchange of wetlands for habitat that will be drained by the extension project.
