GRAND FORKS (AP) — The University of North Dakota has named a head coach to take the school’s baseball program into NCAA Division I.
Alabama native Jeff Dodson has spent the past five seasons at Southeast Missouri State as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. He’ll begin his duties at UND on July 7.
UND will elevate all of its athletic programs to Division I in the fall. Dodson says he’s intrigued with establishing a Division I program from the ground level. He says he’ll canvas the entire country for players.
Former UND head coach Kelvin Ziegler left last July to become events manager at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Assistant Timm Pint was named interim head coach while the search was conducted for a permanent replacement.
