O’Higgins receives Merit Scholarship

Cara T. O’Higgins of Jamestown has won a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship award financed by the Goodrich Corp. Nearly all corporate-sponsored Merit Scholar designees of 2008 were announced publicly by National Merit Scholarship Corporation in April; however, the award this student was chosen to receive became available after that announcement. O’Higgins, a graduate of Jamestown High School, received the National Merit Goodrich Scholarship.

O’Higgins, a graduate of Jamestown High School, received the National Merit Goodrich Scholarship.

Scholarships are part of a comprehensive aid to higher education program provided by the Goodrich Corp., through its foundation. Goodrich has participated as a National Merit Program sponsor since 1956. Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., Goodrich Corp. is engaged in the manufacture and sale of thousands of sizes and types of rubber and chemical products for business, industry and the consumer.

Winners are the candidates judged to have the strongest combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
