Team USA takes 2-1 lead in Spanish series

Dana College pitcher Mindy Schoop fired a perfect game to lead Team USA to a 12-0 win over the Spain Under-22 team on Thursday for a 2-1 lead in the Spanish Softball Series in Barcelona. Schoop fanned 11 batters over seven flawless frames. Battery mate Paige Brune, also from Dana, went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a stolen base.

Valley City State’s Kaleigh Will went 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the game, while fellow Viking Amanda Carter walked twice and scored a pair of runs.

The team is coached by Chad Slyter. They have today off before resuming the series on Saturday.
