Authorities identify body pulled from river

Authorities have identified the man who was pulled from the Vermillion River in Hastings, Minn., on Friday. The Dakota County sheriff’s office says it is 43-year-old Troy Evan Bentz from the Jamestown area. Foul play is not suspected in his death.

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have identified the man who was pulled from the Vermillion River in Hastings, Minn., on Friday.

The Dakota County sheriff’s office says it is 43-year-old Troy Evan Bentz from the Jamestown area. Foul play is not suspected in his death.

Chief Deputy Dave Bellows credits the public with providing the information that led to identifying the body.

Authorities believe Bentz was in the river for about 12 hours before being discovered.
