Andrud awarded Doctorate degree

On May 10, Andrea Jan Andrud was awarded a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Andrud, daughter of Dale and Jan Andrud of Ypsilanti, N.D., was awarded a bachelor’s degree in biology with pre-health emphasis in 2004 from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. At the commencement and award ceremony in St. Louis, Andrud was presented The David J. Kerko Low Vision Award, sponsored by Winchester Optics, awarded to the graduate who has demonstrated interest and exceptional clinical proficiency in the area of low vision.

While at the UM-St. Louis College of Optometry, Andrud was a student member of the American Optometric Association 2004-2008; class representative for the Class of 2008 during all four years of optometry school, and served as Class of 2008 representative to the College of Optometry Executive Council from 2004-2008; and graduated a member of the Gold Key Honor Society. Andrud served as a student ambassador and student member of the Admissions Committee, 2004-2008.

She plans to practice in the greater St. Louis area.
