FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) — Indian Health Service psychologists serving the Standing Rock reservation will soon be getting some help.
Three doctoral students from across the country are to start yearlong internships later this month. It’s the beginning of a process to bring an accredited American Psychology Association program to the reservation.
Two psychologists at Standing Rock cover about 2 million acres. One of them, Tami Deco-teau, said the interns will help with the caseload and also further their education.
The internship is funded through the Standing Rock Tribe and the Indian Health Service.
