Hofmann family holds reunion
On June 29, 137 members of the Hofmann family gathered at Crystal Springs Camp, Crystal Springs, N.D., for a reunion. Relatives traveled from six states and 11 towns in North Dakota for this event. Lillian Hofmann and Nyra Hofmann registered the guests. A worship service was held at the chapel. Bruce Schlecht was emcee. Virgil Moos gave a message on four principles of life.
On June 29, 137 members of the Hofmann family gathered at Crystal Springs Camp, Crystal Springs, N.D., for a reunion.
Relatives traveled from six states and 11 towns in North Dakota for this event. Lillian Hofmann and Nyra Hofmann registered the guests.
A worship service was held at the chapel. Bruce Schlecht was emcee. Virgil Moos gave a message on four principles of life.
Virgil and Judy Moos sang “Who Owns the Cattle on a Thousand Hills.” Bruce Schlecht read Psalm 61. The female Hofmann cousins sang “He Hideth my Soul in the Cleft of the Rocks.” Bob Moser played two trumpet solos.
The eldest person attending the reunion was Rose Meidinger, 90, Jamestown.
Old treasures, jellies and kuchen were auctioned off by Mike Moser with Bruce Schlecht as assistant, with proceeds going to expenses of the next Hofmann reunion in 2011 at the same site.
The committee who planned this event was made up of Arlene Schlecht, Loverna Hofmann, Lillian Hofmann, Nyra Hofmann and Dorothy Moser.
There were eight children born to the Peter and Christina Hofmann family: Peter, Elizabeth, Lydia, Christina, Albert, Karl, Sophia and Jacob “J.P.”
Descendants of Peter Sr. and Lydia Hofmann who attended the reunion from North Dakota were Rose (Hofmann) Meidinger, Leah (Hofmann) and Vernon Hins, Becky (Fandrich) and Shawn O’Neill, Marissa and Brittney O’Neill, Roger and Connie Trautman, James-town; Kermit and Sharon (Meidinger) Schlecht, Street-er; Janet (Meidinger) and Allan Rogneby and Polly (Hofmann) and Glenn Carlson, Bismarck; Lana (Hofmann) and Kenny Hylden, Ben, Christine and Andre, Park River; Betty (Hins) Werner, West Fargo; Fred and Loverna Hofmann, Keith and Julie Hofmann, Janice Hofmann and Reo and Sandra (Moos) Fandrich, Medina. Virgil and July Moos came from Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Descendents of Elizabeth (Hofmann) and John Hertly who attended the reunion were James and Debbie Moos and Elly Heinz, Fargo, and Joe Ochsner, James-town.
Descendants of Lydia (Hofmann) and Carl Moser who attended the reunion were: Oscar and Dorothy Moser, Mike and Dawn Moser, Page, and Aaron, Scott and Angela Moser, Lauren, Megan, Joshua and Jared, Bob and Janelle Moser and Joleesa, Leon and Berdella Moser, Medina; Mary (Moser) Rachel and Lyndan, Kelan Moser, Jamestown; and David and Linda Moser, West Fargo; Arve and Carol Moser, Sartell, Minn., and Dan and Julie Moser, Noell and Justin, Flower Mount, Texas.
Descendants of Christina (Hofmann) and Ted, Sr. Hillius attending were: Willie and Laura Metzger, Medina; Helen Hillius, Darrell and Judy Metzger, Julie and Sierra and Cole Bennion, Jamestown, Kevin and Sandy Metzger, Kindred; and Dennis and Kathy Metzger, Molacla, Ore.
There were no descendants of Albert, Karl or Sophia in attendance.

Clarence Schlecht, Medina, was also a guest at the reunion.
