Welcome back to school
When our two daughters were growing up I think the worst time of the year was late July and early August. That was the time between the end of the summer parks programs and the beginning of school activities and school itself. The girls were often bored with summer and not having anything scheduled. I would often escape to the office leaving my wife to figure out what to do with the kids and I didn’t have an answer anyway! That time of year is here now for the parents of Jamestown Public School kids. But, I have a great announcement for all of you. Jamestown Public Schools are ready to go and soon will be welcoming approximately 2200 students back for what promises to be a very interesting 2008-09 school year. And we are ready.By: Bob Toso, The Jamestown Sun
And we are ready.
For the most part, we have hired all of our staff. We still are looking for some support staff, but that will be taken care of soon. We have made improvements to many of our buildings, from painting and carpeting to major elevator repairs in the middle school. We are still hoping to have the middle school physical education and activity area ready by the time school starts and we feel the football field will be playable by Sept. 19.
We have ordered new books, new technology, and other supplies and equipment for the schools. We have completed a great sidewalk project at Louis L’Amour which we hope will encourage more of our students to walk to school every day the weather permits.
So parents and students, to you, I will say again that we are ready. We are going to make this a great year. We are excited by what we have happening here and I hope you are, too. Welcome back!
