Pogue competes in California triathlon
A former Jamestown High School swimming standout recently swam, biked and ran her way to raising over $9,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on August 2. Jocelyn Pogue, 29, of Los Angeles, received pledges to compete in Vineman, an Ironman triathlon competition held in Sonoma, California. The triathlon included a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run.
A former Jamestown High School swimming standout recently swam, biked and ran her way to raising over $9,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on August 2.
Jocelyn Pogue, 29, of Los Angeles, received pledges to compete in Vineman, an Ironman triathlon competition held in Sonoma, California. The triathlon included a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run.
Pogue was a member of “Team in Training,” a Los Angeles-based team where all team member proceeds were sent directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Individually, Pogue raised a total of $9,334.
Along with raising money for charity, Pogue finished near the top in all three events in her age group. Pogue finished second in both the swimming and biking events, and ended up in third place overall in her age group. Out of all the women competing in the event, Pogue placed fifth overall.
Pogue is the granddaughter of Barb Pogue and the late Pres Pogue, and Loraine and Robert Kauphusman, of Jamestown. Pogue completed the competition in memory of here grandfather, Pres Pogue, who passed away from cancer.
