Track championships, along with year-long bragging rights, are up for grabs tonight at the Jamestown Speedway in the 2008 Track Championship.

The action should be fast and furious between the four classes of competitors, as the final points racing event of the season is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.

Jamestown’s Matt Gumke and Landon Becker are both sitting atop the Bomber standings with 689 points, but just over their shoulders is Jamestown’s Cory Jacobson, who is three points back of the leaders with 686 points. The trio have a combined six feature wins at the track this season, with Jacobson winning three features and Gumke with two feature wins.

Also in the mix for the Bomber championship tonight is Jamestown’s Justin Schempp, a two-time feature winner this summer. Schempp is only 11 points off the pace at 678.

Rounding out the top five in Bomber points is Jamestown’s Jake Emo with 656.

There will also be a shootout between Jamestown’s Randy Tarno and Corey Seckerson for the WISSOTA Modifieds championship. Tarno, a two-time feature winner this year, is currently the leader with 682 points, but Seckerson, who has chalked up three feature wins, is nipping at his heels only four points back with 678.

Jamestown’s John Corell and Jason Grimes, along with Arthur’s Bob Sagen complete the top five in the Modifieds point standings. Corell sits in third with 648, Sagen is in fourth with 636 and Grimes is in fifth with 634.

Jamestown’s Spencer Johnson and Horace’s Royce Jawaski will be duking it out for the top spot in the WISSOTA Street Stock class. Johnson is currently the leader after racking up 684 points behind four feature wins. Jawaski, a two-time feature winner, is 14 points behind Johnson at 670.

Also in the mix is Carrington’s Kelly Hagel and Rusty Kollman, who are sitting in third (662 points) and fourth (655 points), respectively. Rounding out the top five in the Streets is Valley City’s Luke Nelson with 651 points.

The only driver with a comfortable lead is Jamestown’s Ryan Fike in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds class. Fike, a four-time feature winner, has carved out a 35-point lead over Jamestown’s Ryan Mikkelson who sits in second. Fike has a total of 712 points, while Mikkelson has tallied 677.

The rest of the top five includes Jamestown drivers Jerry Theis (657 points), Kelly Seckerson (643 points) and Josh Eberhardt (633 points).

The season points racing at the Speedway concludes tonight, but there is still a pair of events left on the schedule. The Streets special is set for August 30-31, with racing beginning at 7 p.m. both nights.

The 37th Annual Stock Car Stampede closes out the season Sept. 19-20.
