Simonson deploys on hospital ship

Navy Reserve Lt. Cmdr. Todd J. Simonson, a 1981 graduate of Valley City (N.D.) High School, recently deployed as an operating room nurse aboard Naval Hospital Ship USNS Mercy, Naval Base San Diego, Calif. The deployment is in support of the humanitarian assistance mission Pacific Partnership 2008 in the Republic of the Philippines and Simonson’s duties will include removing cataracts and improving the vision of patients.

Navy Reserve Lt. Cmdr. Todd J. Simonson, a 1981 graduate of Valley City (N.D.) High School, recently deployed as an operating room nurse aboard Naval Hospital Ship USNS Mercy, Naval Base San Diego, Calif.

The deployment is in support of the humanitarian assistance mission Pacific Partnership 2008 in the Republic of the Philippines and Simonson’s duties will include removing cataracts and improving the vision of patients.

While permanently attached to Navy Reserve Operational Health Support Unit Bremerton, Wash., Simonson serves as an OR nurse for not only the Navy Reserves, but also his hometown of Fargo.

Simonson joined the Navy Reserve in November 1981.
