Female fitness challenge planned
More than 80 female Jamestown College students will participate in a 12-week “Fabulous Female Fitness Challenge” promoting wellness beginning Monday. While competing in teams of four, the students will keep track of their physical activity and attend educational sessions on topics such as healthy cooking. They will also take part in a pre- and post-challenge health screening to measure their progress.
More than 80 female Jamestown College students will participate in a 12-week “Fabulous Female Fitness Challenge” promoting wellness beginning Monday. While competing in teams of four, the students will keep track of their physical activity and attend educational sessions on topics such as healthy cooking. They will also take part in a pre- and post-challenge health screening to measure their progress.
Women in the community are invited to attend the following free events: “Choose to Move,” a lunch and learn session on the American Heart Association Choose to Move program at noon on Sept. 18 in the Nafus Student Center L2; “Fabulous Food Fabulous YOU” cooking class at 9 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the Westminster Hall Dining Center; and “Portion Distortion” lunch and learn session at noon on Nov. 6 in L2.
“We encourage women in the community to join us for our educational sessions,” said Lori Listopad, student activities director.
The challenge and related events are mostly funded through a grant from the American Heart Association and Dakota Medical Foundation.
