Minn. woman burned while rescuing mother

A woman is being credited with pulling her 93-year-old mother out of their burning home in Otter Tail County in western Minnesota. Vergas Fire Chief Justin Helmke says the daughter arrived at the home on the western shore of Lake Six, reached in the door and grabbed out her elderly mother.

VERGAS, Minn. (AP) — A woman is being credited with pulling her 93-year-old mother out of their burning home in Otter Tail County in western Minnesota.

Vergas Fire Chief Justin Helmke says the daughter arrived at the home on the western shore of Lake Six, reached in the door and grabbed out her elderly mother.

Both women were hurt and officials say they are now being treated at the burn unit at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Officials are not releasing the names of the women, nor any details about their conditions.

The fire destroyed the women’s home.
