More time needed for Williston project

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — A developer says he needs more time to line up financing for a 72-apartment complex in Williston.

George Gaukler of Valley City plans to build on about six acres in the former Williston Cimmarron Trailer Park.

At a special Williston City Commission meeting Thursday, George Gaukler asked that a Nov. 1 deadline to begin construction of the apartments be extended to Dec. 1. He said market conditions and oil prices have slowed the process of lining up financing. City officials said they understood the problem and granted a 30-day extension.

Gaukler is buying the land for $58,259. He also gets incentives through a tax increment financing plan.

He said he is still confident the project will be finished by next summer.
