Sanstead wins as superintendent

Wayne Sanstead has won a seventh term as North Dakota’s superintendent of public instruction. Sanstead defeated science teacher Max Laird in Tuesday’s election. The 73-year-old Sanstead is a former Minot teacher, state legislator and lieutenant governor.

BISMARCK (AP) — Wayne Sanstead has won a seventh term as North Dakota’s superintendent of public instruction.

Sanstead defeated science teacher Max Laird in Tuesday’s election.

The 73-year-old Sanstead is a former Minot teacher, state legislator and lieutenant governor.

Sanstead had 55 percent of the vote with 90 percent of the precincts counted.
