Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. staff have distributed 140 resumes to relevant local businesses and will now be tracking results. The resumes covered backgrounds from health care to manufacturing.
At the monthly board meeting Monday, JSDC Chief Executive Officer Connie Ova said the resumes were collected at the Mega Employment Expo in Grand Rapids, Mich., where 2,200 people sought jobs. In a survey taken at the expo, 92 percent of the job seekers said they would move if the job fit their skills.
The work force remains the No. 1 priority for the JSDC as Ova said “you can’t get a company to locate here if you don’t have workers.”
North Dakota has 16,000 jobs available.
Ova and Lindsey Larson, JSDC communications coordinator, will head to Denver, Colo., this weekend for the Experience North Dakota career expo to try to draw more workers to the area. This event is aimed primarily at former North Dakotans.
