Livestock show starts Dec. 4
The ninth annual North Star Classic Livestock Show is fast approaching and will be held at the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center in Valley City Dec. 4-7. One of the largest cattle shows in the State, the North Star Classic offers a variety of activities for all ages.
The ninth annual North Star Classic Livestock Show is fast approaching and will be held at the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center in Valley City Dec. 4-7. One of the largest cattle shows in the State, the North Star Classic offers a variety of activities for all ages.
The NSC kicks off on Thursday with the CHS Nutrition “Pen of 3” Showcase. Doors open at 9 a.m. and activities continue throughout the day. A free lunch at noon is sponsored by Ag County Farm Credit Services and Dakota Plains Co-op. The Showcase Preview is announced by Al Gustin. Kim Hager, CHS beef nutritionist, will present a seminar, “5 Places to Save — 5 Places to Spend.” Pete Carmeichael will present a cattledog demonstration at various times during the day. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day. Commercial exhibits also open.
Dec. 5 is the Open Show day beginning at 9 a.m. Commercial exhibitors are set up and products will be on display. That evening the North Star Classic Dinner features “Highway 101: in concert along with a prime rib dinner show to be held at the Eagles Club. Tickets are still available by contacting the North Dakota Winter Show Office at 800-437-0218.
On Dec. 6, livestock sales are scheduled the entire day. The Sale Day phone number is 701-845-0277.
On Dec. 7 is Junior Show Day. Junior Shows will start following the Overall Junior Supreme Showmanship and will run in the Main Arena.
