About 35 area children will be shopping with a cop for Christmas tonight at Kmart and Wal-Mart.

The youngsters, who may not have any presents under the tree this year, will have $80 to spend on themselves and loved ones due to the generosity of the Jamestown community. Sgt. Tom Nagel, of the Jamestown Police Department, said about $2,000 has been donated for the shopping expedition.

The evening begins with a meal at Pizza Ranch and then with sirens and lights going the law enforcement vehicles will parade to the stores.

“We try to give them something special in Shop with a Cop,” Nagel said.

This is the 10th year of the Fraternal Order of Police Shop with a Cop program in Jamestown.
