Power outage blamed on equipment failure

Equipment failure is blamed for the loss of power to about 10,000 Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. customers in South Dakota and southern North Dakota on Tuesday night. MDU says a circuit breaker failed at Ellendale, N.D., and some customers lost power for up to three hours.

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Equipment failure is blamed for the loss of power to about 10,000 Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. customers in South Dakota and southern North Dakota on Tuesday night.

MDU says a circuit breaker failed at Ellendale, N.D., and some customers lost power for up to three hours.

Communities that lost electricity included Aberdeen, Ipswich, Leola, Fredrick, Ellendale and Ashley, N.D., and surrounding areas.
