Class B roundup: Oakes takes fifth at tourney

The Northern Cass Jaguars defeated the Maple Valley Raiders 56-51 for third place in the Barnes County Tournament in Valley City on Saturday. The Jaguars were led by Brittany Olson with 19 points.

The Northern Cass Jaguars defeated the Maple Valley Raiders 56-51 for third place in the Barnes County Tournament in Valley City on Saturday. The Jaguars were led by Brittany Olson with 19 points.

The championship between Litchville-Marion-Montpelier and Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page was postponed Saturday afternoon, due to winter storm conditions. A date to make up the game has not yet been set.

The Jaguars trailed the Raiders 27-23 at the half, and the game was tied 40-40 heading into the final period of play. Olson scored four points in the period, while Sam Lako posted three of her 11 points in the final stanza.

Mariah Smith poured in 30 points to lead Maple Valley.

Oakes was able to overcome a five-point deficit in the fourth period to defeat Griggs County Central for fifth place Saturday afternoon.

The Tornadoes trailed the Cougars throughout the game, but exploded offensively to double their score in the final period. The Tornadoes put up 23 points in the fourth, led by Katie Brademeyer with 11, to beat the Cougars 46-42.

Oakes was led by Michelle Warren with 25 points, 10 of which came at the free throw line. Brademeyer ended the game with 17 points.

The Cougars were led by Carissa Nelson with 17 points.

A 22-point performance by Janae Kramlich lifted the Barnes County North Lady Bison past Enderlin 45-37 for seventh place.

After being tied 8-8 after one period, the Lady Bison took an 18-14 lead into the half and never looked back. Enderlin committed 23 fouls in the game, while BCN committed 21 fouls. Kramlich scored 11 of her 22 points at the charity stripe.

Enderlin was led by Marah Olson with 13 points.
