Gunman robs Gate City Bank

An armed robbery was reported at Gate City Bank, 309 Second Ave. S.W., this evening. The initial 911 call was logged by Law Enforcement Center dispatch at 5:14 p.m. The amount taken is unknown at this time.

“Our detectives are in the process of gathering information,” said Sgt. Tom Nagel, shift supervisor for the police department at the dispatch center. “We’re also in the process of notifying the FBI and other agencies that we are required to.”

The description of the suspect broadcast over the police radio frequencies was one male, 6 feet tall, 260 pounds and dressed in all black. Nagel added that the suspect wore a black ski mask during the robbery.
