Police search for armed bank robber

Police are looking for at least one gunman who robbed the Gate City Bank Tuesday and drove away with an unknown amount of cash, according to Sgt. Tom Nagel of the Jamestown Police Department.

Early reports indicate bank employees and customers were locked into one of the bank’s rooms. Nagel said he could not confirm or deny that report, saying the details from detectives hadn’t come in yet.

An employee phoned police at 5:14 p.m., Nagel said.

No injuries were reported.

Reports said the gunman was carrying a handgun and wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs 260 pounds, Nagel said.

The suspect drove away from the in a four-door black “boxy” car, Nagel said, saying he was unsure if the vehicle had North Dakota license plates.
