Tribal chairman changes name

The chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes is changing his name. Marcus Wells Jr. told tribal employees and elders that he is changing his name to Marcus Levings.

NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — The chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes is changing his name.

Marcus Wells Jr. told tribal employees and elders that he is changing his name to Marcus Levings.

Wells said his name change is being done out of respect for his grandparents, and to recognize his late brother Steven Carlyle.

He said his name change is going through the legal process and will be completed in about a month.
