395 people attend community dinner

Victory Lutheran Brethren Church came close to its prediction of more than 400 diners at the annual Christmas dinner Sunday.

Victory Lutheran Brethren Church came close to its prediction of more than 400 diners at the annual Christmas dinner Sunday.

Kris Meidinger, who organizes the dinner and cooks the turkeys, said 395 people were served Sunday. Although the total served was higher than last year, more of the diners ate the traditional Christmas meal at the church this year.

“We were down in deliveries this year with only 139,” she said. Last year, 170 meals were delivered.

Meidinger said the turnout was good, with little food left over, even though she cooked five more turkeys this year.

“We could have fed a few more, but not many,” she said.

The late afternoon Christmas choir concert and children’s program also had a good turnout, Meidinger said, despite the frigid, blustery day.
