Bantam A team places third

The Jamestown-Valley City Prowl Bantam A boys’ hockey team placed third at a tournament in Fergus Falls (Minn.) over the weekend.

The Jamestown-Valley City Prowl Bantam A boys’ hockey team placed third at a tournament in Fergus Falls (Minn.) over the weekend.

Jake Stilwell scored two goals in the opener as the Prowl defeated River Lakes, Minn., 4-1. Brady Anderson had a goal and an assist. Ben Sorenson also scored. Goaltender Tygh Yatskis stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced. Andrew Yatskis, Pat Fowler and Dakotah Spitzer each got assists.

The Prowl fell to perennial Minnesota power Warroad 4-1 in the semifinals. Chad Neumann scored off an assist from Andrew Yatskis. Tygh Yatskis finished with 21 saves.

Yatskis stopped 36 shots in the third-place game as the Prowl nipped Fergus Falls, 2-1. Stilwell and Sorenson each had a goal and an assist. Riley Schafer and Andrew Yatskis also got assists as the Prowl improved to 9-2 on the season.
