A 47-year-old woman died in a three-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon on Interstate 29, in Richland County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that collided with another vehicle around 5:30 p.m. south of the Wahpeton interchange. Freezing rain was occurring at the time of the accident, according to the patrol.

The patrol said Yookack Lim, 44, Steinbeck, Manitoba, Canada, was southbound on I-29 in a 2001 Mack, towing an enclosed van trailer, when Lim lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median into the path of two northbound vehicles. The Mack was struck by the Tahoe. The Tahoe was then rear-ended by a 2004 Oldsmobile driven by Rachel Kindle, 23, Roscoe, S.D.

The 47-year-old woman, a front-seat passenger in the Tahoe, died at the scene, the patrol said. The driver of the Tahoe, a 54-year-old man, was injured, as were two other passengers, 16- and 14-year-old girls. All the occupants of the Tahoe were wearing seat belts, the patrol said. The names of the occupants of the Tahoe were not immediately released.

Lim and Kindle were wearing seat belts and were injured. The injured were transported to a Breckenridge, Minn., hospital, the patrol said.

Damages were estimated at $10,000 to the 2001 Mack and trailer, $15,00 to the Tahoe and $4,000 to the Oldsmobile.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
