Oakes’ Brademeyer cited for tourney award
Oakes’ Katie Brademeyer and Leola-Frederick’s Wyatt Sumption were both selected tournament MVP’s following Monday’s conclusion of the Dakota Holiday Basketball Tournament in Ellendale.
Oakes’ Katie Brademeyer and Leola-Frederick’s Wyatt Sumption were both selected tournament MVP’s following Monday’s conclusion of the Dakota Holiday Basketball Tournament in Ellendale.
Brademeyer led the Tornadoes to the girls’ tourney championship inside Trinity Bible College’s Ray Ulmer Field House, scoring a combined 37 points in victories over Barnes County North and Leola-Frederick. Oakes beat Leola-Frederick 60-31 for the title Monday, with the help of 15 points by Brademeyer.
Brademeyer was selected to the girls’ all-tournament team, along with Ellendale’s Kiley Fuller, Leola-Fredericks’ Chelsey Podoll, Oakes’ Michelle Warren and Barnes County North’s Jenae Kramlich.
Kramlich, a 6-foot senior for the Lady Bison, scored her 1,000th career point during the tournament. She accomplished the feat on Monday as her team defeated Ellendale 48-47 for third place. Kramlich ended the game with 19 points.
Sumption helped the Leola-Frederick Titans earn third-place honors on the boys’ side with a 66-43 win over Barnes County North. Sumption ended the game with 15 points behind a trio of three-point shots, and scored a combined 31 points in the two-game tournament.
Sumption was joined on the boys’ all-tournament team with Ellendale’s Tanner White and Nolan Hamar, and Oakes’ Jason Hagen and Zach Roberts.
