Soldier selected to attend bowl game
A North Dakota Army National Guard soldier wounded in Iraq has been selected to attend the U.S. Army All-American Bowl featuring the nation’s top high school football players.
BISMARCK (AP) — A North Dakota Army National Guard soldier wounded in Iraq has been selected to attend the U.S. Army All-American Bowl featuring the nation’s top high school football players.
Spc. David Young was among 20 soldiers in the country chosen for the all-expense-paid football game in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 3.
Selections are limited to soldiers who have been awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with “V” device for valor or a Purple Heart.
Young, a member of Company A of the 164th Engineer Battalion, was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in Iraq.
