BISMARCK (AP) — The North Dakota National Guard said a second group of soldiers from the 191st Military Police Company has arrived in Fort Lewis, Wash., after nearly a year in Iraq, and 13 Guard airmen are returning home from Kuwait.

The first group of about 100 soldiers from the 191st arrived at Fort Lewis Monday night. The second group of about 60 arrived Tuesday night.

Guard officials said most of the soldiers will be back in North Dakota in a week. Sixteen members of the unit decided to extend their deployment for up to 13 months.

The 191st is based in Fargo with detachments in May-ville and Bismarck.

The airmen are members of the Air National Guard’s 119th Wing, based in Fargo. The Guard said 10 returned home Wednesday afternoon and three were scheduled to return on Thursday. They are in a civil engineer squadron deployed in Kuwait since last September.
