BISMARCK (AP) — A Burleigh County rancher is joining a lawsuit that accuses a Colorado feed company of selling and mixing a feed supplement that poisoned cattle.
The original lawsuit was filed by Lonnie and Todd McPeak, of Sterling, against Cattleman’s Choice Loomix LLC. The McPeaks said their cattle became ill and four animals died from the Loomix Ore-Bac supplement.
Kevin Fettig has been added as a plaintiff. He said one of his calves fell into a tub of the Ore-Bac supplement and eventually lost all of its hair. He said one heifer and five calves died one week after being taken off the supplement.
Cattleman’s Choice has said that damage to the cattle was caused by “misuse or abuse” of the product by the ranchers and was not the company’s fault.
