Support group starting at hospital

A gastric bypass and heart disease support group will begin meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Jamestown Hospital, in room 15 in the basement. Gastric bypass surgery and heart disease often go hand in hand, said Rayette Walters, co founder of the support group. Shelia Thompson, the other co-founder, took an 11-week course on gastric bypass and will addresses such issues as depression, eating and body changes.

Gastric bypass surgery and heart disease often go hand in hand, said Rayette Walters, co founder of the support group.

Shelia Thompson, the other co-founder, took an 11-week course on gastric bypass and will addresses such issues as depression, eating and body changes.

“It’s needed, there’s no support group,” said Walters. “Even for those thinking about it, it eases the mind.”

Men and women are welcome to attend.

“We are all there for each other,” said Walters.
