North Dakota airports were awarded more than $2.1 million by the Federal Aviation Administration, Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad, D-N.D. and Rep. Earl Pomeroy an-nounced Friday.
The $2,155,120 in federal funding will go toward construction, maintenance and planning projects at 16 North Dakota airports. The Jamestown Regional Airport is set to receive about $30,000 to use for runway rehabilitation.
These grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation with funds appropriated by Congress.
Among other recipients is Bismarck Municipal Airport, which will receive $561,975 to continue its taxiway construction project. Also, Grand Forks International Airport will receive $371,734 to help design and construct a new airport passenger terminal. The current terminal has been found to be deficient in many areas.
“These funds will help with improvements at many North Dakota airports, giving a boost to the state’s commerce infrastructure,” the delegation said in a joint statement. “And by making travel easier, they will help the state continue its nationally recognized economic activity.”
