BIG LAKE, Minn. (AP) — The Sherburne County sheriff says it was an SUV or pickup that struck and killed a 76-year-old Big Lake man over the weekend, then drove away.
Sheriff Joel Brott said the medical examiner’s investigation has narrowed down the type of vehicle that struck Ira Shank of Big Lake as he crossed Highway 25 Sunday morning.
Brott said there should be damage to the left front portion of the vehicle, and possibly the driver’s side mirror.
Also, investigators be-lieve that Shank was probably struck no more than 15 minutes prior to the sheriff’s office getting the 911 call at 6:59 a.m.
Brott is asking that anyone with information about the case, or even anyone who was driving on Highway 25 between Monticello and Big Lake shortly before the accident to call the sheriff’s office.
The Sherburne County sheriff’s office is at (763) 241-2500.
