BISMARCK - Mevludin Hidanovic's plea for a pardon has failed and he now faces deportation to Bosnia or Germany.

In a meeting that lasted less than five minutes, the state Pardon Advisory Board this afternoon voted unanimously to recommend Gov. John Hoeven deny the Fargo man an unconditional pardon that would prevent him from being deported by March 5.

Hidanovic's record includes several domestic violence related convictions and a felony conviction of engaging in a riot with a baseball bat during the 2006 Red River Valley Fair.
