Decisions regarding the Jamestown branch of 4 R’s Recycling Center have been delayed officials say, because of possible interest by a third party in the business.

Charlie Kourajian, Jamestown City Council member and recycling advocate, said a third party has expressed interest but would not say who the party was. Kourajian did say the people were local.

The recycling center, which is run by Gary and Helen Rosenau of Carrington, hung a closed sign in early January because of availability of help and because the value of many recycling materials is less than a third of what it was a year ago.

Helen Rosenau had said details regarding the future of the recycling center were expected by Feb. 1. Now, she said she expects a decision by March.

“I don’t know anything that’s really going on here for sure,” she said.

Rosenau said she and 4 R’s staff are still sorting and cleaning and have no immediate plans to reopen.
