Verizon says it invested nearly $30 million in N.D.

Verizon Wireless says it invested nearly $30 million last year to expand cell phone coverage and upgrade its network in North Dakota.

BISMARCK (AP) — Verizon Wireless says it invested nearly $30 million last year to expand cell phone coverage and upgrade its network in North Dakota.

A statement from the company said 27 new cell phone sites were activated in 2008. Other upgrades included a backup generator at one site and equipment upgrades to eight sites.

New Jersey-based Verizon said it has invested more than $150 million in the state over the past eight years on improvements.
