Agents from the Grand Forks Border Patrol Sector Intelligence Unit requested assistance Friday from Del Rio Sector agents in locating a suspect implicated in a drive-by shooting that took place in the Moorhead, Minn., area on May 11, 2008.

Within hours of Grand Forks Border Patrol agents receiving the telephone call from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant issued by Moorhead Police Department, the suspect was arrested at his residence by Dimmit County deputies and is currently in jail.

This law enforcement resolution is a result of Grand Forks and Carrizo Springs Border Patrol agents leveraging partnerships established with local, state, and federal counterparts to timely share operational and tactical intelligence.

The long-standing relationships and intelligence sharing between Border Patrol agents, the Moorhead Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and other law enforcement agencies also play a vital role in Grand Forks Sector’s mission, officials said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of U.S. borders at and between official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the United States while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
