BISMARCK - A bill outlawing discrimination against North Dakotans based on their sexual orientation will go to the Senate with a do-pass recommendation.
The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 6-0 this afternoon to give the favorable nod to Senate Bill 2278, which would add North Dakota's gay men and lesbians to the protected classes in the state Human Rights Act.
The bill was amended to clarify that religious organizations are exempt from the law.
