Columnist Thomas is going far too easy on Obama

Helen Thomas is a self-proclaimed liberal. Of course she would side with President Barack Obama. She talks of the spending bill being transparent when no one was allowed to read it, even when they were promised 48 hours on the internet before the vote. The lesson on this one is beware of anyone who talks of an “ethical” or “transparent” administration.

How about her comments on the stingy bankers? I would have thought everybody would have learned their lesson on lending to people with bad credit, everybody except maybe Thomas, Rep. Barney Frank, D-Ma., and Obama. Then there is the bonuses to CEOs.

What has Congress just done? They all went on a retreat and voted themselves a $93,000 increase in petty cash on top of taking their annual pay raise.

Obama is governing by using fear and talking down the economy to get what he wants. When President George W. Bush took office from Bill Clinton he said the economy wasn’t as good as it looked. The Democrats accused him of talking down the economy. Bush did what he could to get the Democrats to work with him and they did everything to oppose him. There was the education bill he allowed Sen. Ted Kennedy to write and Bush is getting the blame for its failure.

Obama says he will call out anybody who does not spend this stimulus wisely. Has that ever happened in government, especially with Democrats when they do all they can to buy your vote? President Ronald Reagan said government is not the solution, it is the problem. The problem seems to have gotten a lot bigger in the last month.

If it were possible to spend your way out of debt, nobody would have ever been in debt and the world would be just rosy.
