The Jamestown Branch of AAUW will host “Overcoming Gender Barriers,” a panel discussion, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Otter Tail Power Community Room, 315 Second St. S.E., Jamestown (east door). The public is invited to attend. The panel consists of area women including Fran Eicholtz, Dr. Diana Robles, Carolina Strom-berg, Mareike Geyer and Anthoula Hanse. This group will discuss the challenges and successes they faced while growing up in their native countries of the Philippines, Canada, Mexico, Germany and Greece.
The event is being held to celebrate International Women’s Day which is March 8. International Women’s Day is a mission-based program giving women knowledge and tools that will inspire them to raise awareness about the successes and challenges of women in the U.S. and abroad. Thousands of events are held throughout the world on that day to inspire women and celebrate their achievements.
While there are many large-scale initiatives, a diverse fabric of local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking event, theatrical performances and more.
