ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A 70-year-old rural Stearns County man has told investigators he shot his wife in self-defense.
Dale Nyren is charged with intentional second-degree murder in the death of his 67-year-old wife, Sharon.
The complaint accuses Nyren of shooting his wife first in the knee. Nyren told police that about two minutes later he shot her in the head.
While he told investigators he acted in self-defense, Nyren acknowledged that his wife had not moved from the couch where she had been seated.
Sheriff’s investigators say there was an argument prior to Tuesday’s shooting at the couple’s home in Fair Haven Township.
Bail for Nyren is set at $750,000 unconditional or $500,000 with conditions.
