Mayer Truck Line gives safety awards

Mayer Truck Line, Inc. held its Safe Driving Awards Banquet on Jan. 31 at Shady’s Lounge. Several professional truck drivers were awarded for driving safely without an at-fault accident. These awards are presented under the guidelines of the American Trucking Association.

Mayer Truck Line, Inc. held its Safe Driving Awards Banquet on Jan. 31 at Shady’s Lounge. Several professional truck drivers were awarded for driving safely without an at-fault accident. These awards are presented under the guidelines of the American Trucking Association.

MTL presented two professional truck drivers in each category the Four Million Mile Award and Two Million Mile Award, and four professional truck drivers with the One Million Mile Award for driving miles without an at-fault accident. The eight to receive these awards were as follows: Four Million: Ray Kautzman and Gary Kriedeman; Two Million: Ron Simmons and Don Lee; One Million: Stuart Foster, John Henn, Dean Rydell and Bill Wanzek. Each driver will have his name along with the company’s name placed in the ATA Hall of Fame in Washington D.C.

Awards denoting the number of years of safe driving were also awarded as follows: 37 years, Robert Smith; 36 years, Ray Kautzman; 34 years, Gary Kriedeman; 30 years, Brian Stockwell (10 years with MTL); 28 years, Loy Justesen; 25 years, Myron Mosolf (17 years with MTL); 24 years, Doug Wahl; 23 years, John Wanzek (10 years with MTL); 21 years, Leon Maki; 19 years, Jim Geisler; 18 years, Ron Simmons and Don Lee; 17 years, Paul Stahlhut; 16 years, Bill Luedtke (4 years with MTL) and Jim Mikkelsen (15 years with MTL); 15 years, Rick Sabinash; 13 years, Wesley Morlock; 12 years, Ken Elhard, Bruce Fredenburg and John Ihringer; 11 years, Robert Carr, Dale Kolb (5 years with MTL), Mel Weisenberger and Russ Wendland; 10 years, Kelan Frank and Kelly Retzlaff (each 6 years with MTL); 9 years, Donald Sommerdorf; 8 years, Larry Brademeyer, Stuart Foster, John Henn and Dean Rydell; 7 years, Curt Brandner and Bill Wanzek; 6 years, Dennis Dockter; 4 years, Perry Fregien, Randy Kautzman and Richard Wagner; 3 years, Chad Whetham; 2 years, Jack Jerrel, Troy Mittleider and Todd Robyt; and 1 year, Larry Maley and Orin Skaurud.

Awards for years of employment with MTL were also presented as follows: 30 years, Clarence Mittleider; 20 years, Rick Sabinash and Don Lee; 15 years, Ken Elhard; 10 years, Norma Morlock and John Wanzek; and 5 years, Perry Fregien and Dale Kolb.

MTL has two employees retiring this year who were also honored at the banquet. Robert Smith is retiring with 39 years at MTL and received a 37-year patch for years of safe driving. John Ihringer is retiring with 16 1/2 years at MTL and received a 12-year patch for years of safe driving.
